Tears - Glass
Lachrymae, an installation by artist Rowena Pearce, composer Helen Ottaway and sound designer Alastair Goolden, is an exploration of music and visual art through movement; it was first presented at Shave Farm as part of Somerset Art Week in 2000. Artmusic produced an accompanying CD; Lachrymae, five laments for voice and violin.
While Lachrymae was installed at Shave Farm, film-maker Al Morrison made a series of video recordings in the space. This film work represented a very individual view of the piece, focusing on the shadows and reflections created by the movement of sculpture and people. Alastair Goolden has made two film versions of Lachrymae using a combination of Al's footage and his own, accompanied by two of the laments for voice and violin by Helen Ottaway.
